Mental Health Graduate program has been a learning experience that I will cherish forever. The support from a week and half of training and 4 super numeral days helped in forming character and confidence in myself before having patient load.
Monash policy and procedure were very handy in providing clarity and footsteps to what is expected by the hospital from all employees. These policies and procedure reflected on values and principles of Monash health.
The policies provided clear, simple statements of how your organisation intends to conduct its services and actions. The procedures describe how each policy will be put into action in your organisation. Each procedure should outline each responsibilities and role, detailed step-by-step instruction what needed to be taken and forms or documents to utilise.
Competencies were also challenging at time but with time and practice, I was able to feel confidence in performing tasks at hand. Competencies assessed my ability to apply and use the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform critical work function.
I am aware that in my nursing career, I will continuously learn new skills, take on new challenges and develop professionally as new evidence based practice arise.
Study days were very beneficial in providing clarification, feedback and clarity to what is expected of me and learn new. The graduate program has helped me to easily identify risks, communicate effectively with consumers and staff, complete comprehensive assessments and connect theory/tertiary knowledge to skill.
